Ripley's January - Brazil and beyond!

Thursday Nights Through January
Ace Hotel Lobby Residency

8pm - FREE

Select Thursdays in January (January 8th, 22nd and 29th), DJ Ripley sets up a free weekly residency at The Ace Hotel's lobby, just off 28th and Broadway. From 8pm-2am, Ripley will bring the eclectic Dutty Artz vibe to the plush, comfortable Ace Hotel lobby. The January 8th show will also feature a full band and a private happening from Laina Dawes (author of What Are You Doing Here? A Black Woman's Life and Liberation in Heavy Metal).

Friday, January 23

K2 Friday Nights at
The Rubin Museum of Art
6pm - FREE

During K2 Friday Nights, Café Serai at The Rubin Museum of Art becomes the K2 Lounge, serving tasty small plates and delicious drinks to an arts minded crowd. DJ Ripley spins predominantly Central and South Asian pop music every K2 Friday Night from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.  Museum admission is free.


January 9 to 21

DJ Ripley's alter ego, Professor Larisa Mann heads to Rio on behalf of NYU's Emerging Markets in the Global Music Industry program to teach classes on the roots of soundsystem culture and the hyperglobal phenomenon of electronic dance music.

DJ Ripley has her own plans, including a special appearance on January 17 in Santos, São Paulo at the Festival Verāo do Mundo (World Summer Festival) and more South America dates TBA.
