HEAVY #13 !!

Its lucky 13! so you know we had to go all in 🔥

BEYOND STACKED!!! We present the mighty Dave Q, founder of the beyond legendary Dub War NYC events, his sure hand and musical insight as well as curation skills keep him in the heart of bass music movements. We are beyond hyped to announce we have added New Zealand's top footwork producer Surly from the Juke Bounce Werk crew to the evening, one of the most undeniably interesting people making 160bpm bass music. Don't sleep on Bronx producer El Blanco Niño, whose wide-ranging production and keen ear for collaborations has been generating a steady buzz. Olive T's adventurous sets, flawless blends, new productions and dance floor accessibility have made her a must see up and comer in NYC. And we are super excited to bring the Philly-based (chicago originating) footwork crew RMG who both tear up the dancefloor and throw down on the decks with their special blend of juke/footwork classics and new chicago trax 👻

Check the links below for a taste and get ready for a friday night experience at The Keep with the beloved Stampede Sound custom subs to wrap you in heavy bass!

A new mix!

I've had several mixes on different themes percolating for some time. Traveling plays havoc with turning them around - but this one will help me clear the decks, and hopefully get everyone's feet in ship-shape for the coming year, when nimbleness and ferocity are called for.

Footwork, jungle, drumnbass, halftime, gongs, clangs, many languages echoing in this mix! Have a listen, leave a comment, share and enjoy!

Holler from London, where great music lurks on every corner, local and from out of town, including Flint-Michagin's own Tunde Olaniran (who had plenty of actual family in London for their gorgeous set), got to big up Batida for another inspiring antidj set, and the legendary Newton "Ace" Dunbar now holding it down on Thursdays at London Fields Radio!

A few things coming up, but they're hot ones!

Throwing down with longtime homie Dev79 my sister-in-bass Anna Morgan and all the philly footwork fiends:

And then off to Detroit at the end of the month with fellow Dutty Artz hermana MPEACH for the amazing and inspiring MOTHER CYBORG's record release party!

Continuing the theme

Pleased to dj, for at least the third time, the Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJNYC) Annual PurimShpil! This great organization pulls together a tremendous spectacle, featuring song, dance, puppets, costumes, and the retelling of Queen Esther's heroism and cleverness with a spin that links it to current issues of the day, from police brutality to water rights to gentrification. The play is followed by bands, hip-hop and finally a set from DJ Ripley until 3am! Here's a write-up of the past few (although they neglect to mention I dj'd many of them): http://jewcy.com/jewish-arts-and-culture/radical-queer-purim-spiel-must-attend

And the next day, another Party With A Purpose, courtesy of a new brooklyn based family-centered progressive group called B-FREE, plus music and dancing from City Stomp, ballet foklorico, and DJ Ripley all support Mixteca, a local immigrants rights organization.

We raised 6,000 for Mixteca!

More music and action to come in 2017.

2017 with feeling

Too much going on in this country to even address here. Feelings are the least of it. But I am happy to say my first musical moves of 2017 will be in the direction that matters most right now: supporting communities and autonomous creativity in tech.

Saturday January 14 (9pm) I'm at the lovely, lively Starr Bar, alongside the amazing Dj Riobamba - we're holding down the decks at an after party for the Anti-Trump Free School / Escuelita Libre Anti-Trump (which is a great event in itself - A Free University-NYC and Mayday Space collaboration that day 12 PM – 7 PM @ Mayday Space (176 St. Nicholas Ave, Brooklyn) Music starts at 9,  goes til whenever!

Sunday January 15 I'm playing the cool-down, 7-9pm, after WIKIPEDIA DAY at the Ace Hotel, in conjunction with the NY branch of the Wikimedia Foundation. Come for the day and add some pages to wikipedia at at edit-a-thon (they always need more women artists, musicians and scientists), or participate in some some interesting conversations, and eat CAKE.

Monday January 23rd I'll be up at Bembe for ESO!! Mondays with musical fam Dj Reaganomics and Dj Dirtyfinger. Come shake it up and drink tropical juices all night!
